U.S. Representative. Lynn Jenkins, a Republican from Kansas, told a recent gathering in northeast Kansas that the Republican Party is looking for a “great white hope” to help stop the political agenda of the Democratic party and President Barack Obama. Apparently Jenkins was unaware that The Great White Hope was a play/film that focused on racism, looking at how segregation and prejudice affected human behavior.
Was this a simple slip of the tongue, or proof that subtle racism still exists today, even among our political leaders?
