The Tampa Tea Party was a huge success. Although most media outlets downplayed the number of folks that attended, you can clearly see that this was not a small protest. My guess would be well over 2,000. This guy was one of my favorites, he walked through the crowd, creating quite a buzz.
The protest was held in Lykes Gaslight Park in downtown Tampa Bay. Protestors walked back and forth across the street while cars waited at red lights. The folks in the cars leaned out hollaring support and honking their horns in approval.
Look at this crowd! Why was MSNBC minimizing the crowd sizes? You can see hundreds in this one view, there was this number of people on all sides of me.
Folks of all backgrounds in the crowd, not just your crazy right leaning whackos.
The population of Tampa is 10% African-American. I do not believe that they we represented at the same rate as other races, however there were quite a few. This did not appear to be a race or class protest.
Most protestors were outraged by two issues.
1) The excessive spending by Congress
2) Unfair tax policies
While some protestors were direct in blaming Obama, I believe that they were in the minority. Most seemed to blame government as a whole.
These folks were singling out Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. ”Congress is a Toxic Asset”
Don’t Tread on Me

Interesting. Just out of curiosity – are you a Tampa area blogger as well? I attended the New Port Richey and Port Richey Tea Parties myself.
I used to work in downtown Tampa at the BoA building and AmSouth building.
I travel to Tampa quite often and happened to be in town on April 15th. I stopped by to see what the crowd looked like, and quickly got caught up in the excitement.
How did your Tea Party go?
How do you measure success? By the number of people who attended? or by the affect it had on the majority of the people to feel sorry for all the the rich people who have to pay more taxes? Because if it’s the latter, than it failed, because us middle class and poor people couldn’t care less if the rich have to pay more taxes. Way To Go Obama!!!

Hmmm..apparently, Bob there is blinded by his party rather than worried about the freedom, liberty, and success of America. Sorry for the delayed response to your question.
Given the area I was in, there were only about 500 people – but – considering the small population – that was a pretty good turnout. We’re expecting to double that on July 4. More people are waking up to the truth about this administration’s agenda.
Bob sees this as class warfare and only about taxes. Perhaps he needs to attend one of these teaparties to understand what they are really about rather than listening to the MSM talking points.

Hmmm.. apparently Bobo is upset that the rich have to pay their fair share of taxes. Being rich comes with that responsibility. The poor and middle class people wish they had that problem of making so much money that they have to pay higher taxes. You poor rich people. Bobo, why don’t you tell us what it’s really about? Do you think the rich should run the country? Is that what the constitution says? Tell us how the poor and middle class can have freedom, liberty and equality if the rich control the government, which is the main goal of the Republican party, to give the rich total control of our government and the first step is to kill all the social programs that help the poor and middle class and make government smaller so that the rich can pay less taxes.
